At the beginning of this journey I knew a couple things I wanted to do with this blog. More importantly what path I wanted to take you down. Evelyn, someday in the future as you read these, I wanted you to see what you mean to me and your mother. Even before you make your grand entrance into this world, you have impacted us so greatly.
To bookend this adventure, I knew I wanted to share the announcement we were expecting you with the world, and at the end of this first leg of our journey would be a proper introduction to your mother and to me. Well, I introduced you to your mother in the last post, so that means it is my turn.
Now, I won’t lie to you. I could go on, in GREAT detail about myself, but you don’t want to read the egotistical ramblings of your father. So, I thought we would try something new here. This post will be handled the rest of the way by your mother. So, here is your first installment of “MotherBlogsBetter!”

Hi baby girl, this is your momma and I need to start off by telling you I am not as fancy of a writer as your daddy but I’m going to try.
Let me start by giving you a little background. Your momma and daddy meet 14 years ago at Sam’s Club where we both worked at the time. Mom thought dad was the most handsome man she had ever seen and was really nervous to talk to him. I found out that he really likes movies (you will learn this quickly because he still can’t wait to show you many, many movies) so I asked someone else at work what he was watching in the break room that day. They told me the movie was 2001- A Space Odyssey and a bit about the movie so I used that to start a conversation with your dad.
So essentially, I tricked your daddy into liking me and luckily he stuck around after he found out I didn’t know anything about movies, especially 2001- A Space Odyssey. I am really glad he did, because he is amazing, funny,smart and just an overall great person.
Fast forward two years later to March of 2005, mom and dad get married – fast forward again to March of 2008, that is when mom and dad decided to start working on expanding our little family. That is when we started hoping you would join us in this crazy world.
Well, that should catch you up on everything that the blogs may have not covered before now. Now, onto the real reason for this post – let’s talk about your daddy.
First off – this is him, as you know. He’s the bearded guy with glasses that has been your number one supporter and constant cuddler since the day you were born. As you can see, dad is very stylish with his big glasses, beard and fancy hats. He is always very festive on the holidays and LOVES Halloween and always makes the most amazing costumes. This year and the years to come; you, me and dad will get to be dressed up together and he can’t wait.
The number one thing I want you to know about your dad is that he has been so excited and eager to be a dad for years. Ever since we have decided to try to have a baby he has been all about picking names, buying baby clothes and being supportive through all the Dr visits and procedures. He never gave up even when I thought I couldn’t keep going.
On June 14th 2016, I told your dad that you were in my belly. He cried and hugged me and cried and cried and cried. Good tears, very happy tears – He was so excited to be your daddy. He hardly slept that night and couldn’t even concentrate at work the next day because all he could think about was you and how much he loved you already.
Since that day, your daddy has talked to you everyday through my belly and loves to feel you move and kick when he does. He has gone to EVERY Dr appointment because he wants to be there to see you on the ultrasound and hear your perfect little heartbeat. When he found out that you were going to be a little girl, he could hardly contain how excited he was and had a hard time keeping the secret from mommy until it was time for her to find out.
No one will ever love you as much as your daddy does and no one will ever support you, pick you up when you fall and be there every step of the way quite like your daddy. Always remember that your daddy loves you more than anything else in the world because you are and will always be his world.
This is your father and he cannot wait to meet you!
