Prepping ain’t easy!

Oh, hello there. How’s it going? Yes, yes I know. It’s been a while since my last post. I apologize. It has been a little busy. Let’s see what has happened since we last spoke…

Halloween happened. Jessica’s favorite holiday! As usual, we went all out on costumes and Jessica and our nephew Aaron terrorized the neighborhood with their alien abduction-themed costumes. Good times were had by all.

img_0620Jessica and I competed in a local beard competition. Evelyn should be happy her mommy took first place in the Fake Creative Beard category, and daddy didn’t do too bad either. Top three in my category is just fine with me.

At this competition we also collected socks for a local charity event and then on Thanksgiving morning helped deliver meals and those collected socks to the homeless. Now catching up to more current events.

Evelyn received her first addressed package this week. I might of teared up a bit upon seeing the box addressed to her. img_0024A family friend of Jessica’s parents made a few absolutely adorable items for our sweet girl. If Evelyn is anything like her mother (which she definitely will be) she will certainly love her crocheted octopus and mermaid tail blanket.

Evelyn experienced her first Thanksgivings…kind of. If Jessica had the shirt to commemorate the event, it would be the “Bumps first Thanksgiving!” We spent Thursday with my family and Friday with Jessica’s. Much ham and turkey was consumed and fun was had by all.

Jessica and I also woke up crazy early on Black Friday to go shopping for our little lady. The only place we wanted to go was to buy some clothes at Carter’s. Evelyn racked up! We bought quite a few outfits for her to wear next summer, fall, and winter. A lot of great finds.

Now to the meat and potatoes of this post (pun intended).

A couple weeks ago Evelyn’s crib and dresser were purchased and delivered last week. My family came over today so we could assemble it. It was a family affair. Gigi (my mom), Paw-paw (my dad), Aunt Jennie and Uncle David, cousins Aaron and Abbey were all here.

With the crib together, now time for the dresser. This is looking more intense than anticipated. Probably a good time to stop for a late lunch and watch the Bame game. img_0049

We finished eating, but the game was still going. Not one to wait for half-time like the rest of us, Jessica and David started on the dresser. We ventured upstairs to offer our assistance as they finished the dresser.

All in all, it was a productive day. Crib put together. Dresser built and ready. Alabama won the Iron Bowl. Roll Tide Roll!

A huge thanks to the Graham, Figueredo, and Warren families for all they have done for our sweet little girl’s room. She is not here yet, but the amount of love she already has makes me incredibly emotional and happy.

Some day, my sweet little lady, you can look back on these posts and see how much you are loved. Even before you were born, you had many people who did so much for you and waited patiently (and somewhat impatiently) for your arrival into this world. The countdown clock is at 11 weeks, 4 days, 3 hours, and 32 minutes. Not that I am keeping track or anything.
